hausa
Hausa is major west African language. It is spoken by about twenty five million people mainly in Niger and northern Nigeria, but is also used as a lingua franca in parts of western Africa. The language is written in Latin (Roman) letters. Part of the Scriptures were first printed in Hausa in 1857, the New Testament in 1880 and the full Bible including Apocrypha, called the Hausa Union Version, was printed in 1932. Most Hausa speaking Christians are evangelical Protestant. Bible work is done by the Bible Society of Nigeria.
