Good News for the World is a popular history of Bible Society, from Mary Jones to the present day. It aims to inspire, entertain, engage and inform.

Roger Steer, who happens to be a Bible Society trustee, explained, "Wherever possible I wanted to tell the story in a series of scenes, where the reader can imagine himself present, seeing the scenery, hearing the sounds and dialogue, smelling the smells."

Roger Steer's fast-moving account catapults us from event to event and country to country as it recounts Bible Society's rapid early expansion across Europe, Russia and the Far East, its growth through years of war in Europe, and brings us to the present day of a fellowship co-operating around all kinds of imaginative projects to build community and individual lives around the Bible.

"This is the story of men and women of immense ability, imagination, creativity and courage. But above all it is the story of the Bible - and of the way it has broken through barriers of culture and language to set hearts on fire", explains Roger.

Roger Steer is author of twelve books, including George Mller: Delighted in God, which has been continuously in print for nearly 30 years. He has been a trustee of Bible Society for many years. He lives in Devon, UK.
