This 2004 edition updates the second edition (1994). It includes the textual revisions from the 1994 edition and the use of inclusive language in order to update the version's first edition. Sometimes known as the TEV (Today's English Version) the GNB is the work of an international committee of scholars using the best available manuscripts. The GNB is an easy-to-read and reliable translation, making it the best-selling version for over twenty years.

Has a section printed between the Old and New Testaments called "The Deuterocanonical Books also called The Apocrypha" with the 12 books of the Roman Catholic DCs, followed by another section called "Some Additional Books" which has 1 & 2 Esdras and the Prayer of Mannasseh. Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat (this refers to the "seal of approval" the Roman Catholic grant).
